This category includes articles on various game mechanics. Mechanics include any element of the game that determines interaction of the player with the world, metrics of the game, objects within the world interacting with other objects, or how the game interacts with outside influences (i.e. the way it finds multi-player servers).
Mechanics Without PagesEdit
These mechanics do not yet justify having full pages. The Description is all that is known about them.
All blocks can be copied in creative mode, as long as copying and pasting are enabled in the world settings.
- Ctrl+C will copy all connected blocks and leave the original in place.
- Ctrl+X will copy the blocks and remove the original, as well give a prompt of the removal.
- Ctrl+V will create a copy of the last set of blocks copied.
Copying Stations will align the blocks to the grid they were copied. Pasted Ships can be rotated before they are set with the rotation keys.
Center of GravityEdit
The center of gravity setting can be accessed from the Terminal under the Info tab. Selecting this will create a cross-hair indicating the Center of Gravity (CoG), or rather the center of mass. This is particularly good to know when setting Gyroscopes. The setting will activate the CoG for all ships (separating Rotor block sets).
Grouping functional blocks allows simultaneous control of several select items. Grouping will allow the on and off buttons as well all controls of a block kind as long as all blocks are the same and have the same settings when being grouped. For instance, if only doors are in a group, then the open and close buttons will be available.
Grouping is achieved by entering the control panel of the Terminal, holding Ctrl and clicking every item needed (or clicking the first item in a row, holding Shift and clicking the last item in a row), then typing a group name in the text box on the right and clicking "save". Groups will be listed first in the control panel between two asterisks.
The color of a block equipped in the toolbar can be chosen prior to placing it. To do so, use the '[' and ']' keys to cycle forward and backward (respectively) through the preset options.
The Color Picker can streamline this process. It is accessed by pressing 'P' (default) while not seated at a cockpit. Using this tool, any of the preset options can be chosen or a custom color can be defined. Each of the 14 starting color cells can be changed and will change the cycling with the '[' and ']' keys. The cells can be reverted to defaults with the "Defaults" button. A welded block's color can be copied into the selected color pallet block by hovering the illusionary placement block over the colored block desired, and pressing the following combination [Shift+P]. This works by having the foundation starting component of said hologram block in survival mode. The color will be copied into the selected color pallet after the previous conditions are met. Creative mode users only have to have another block selected and "next to" the precursor block with the color desired and again pressing the combination [Shift+P].
