The Spotlight is a block that can be added to large and small ships and stations. Much like the Interior Light, it is used to provide illumination. Unlike the interior light, however, the spotlight is best suited to use on the outside of ships to function as a floodlamp or headlights.
The spotlight has a hefty impact on game performance compared to other items and can put a strain on some computers, so use them sparingly. If the light behaves oddly, check Options > Graphics Options > Light quality.
The blink settings can be used to coordinate a series of lights to blink after one another -- see Interior Light for details.
Also like the interior light, the spotlight's features can be changed in the Control Panel Screen:
- Color (R, G, B): The RGB color value of the light. Use the sliders to pick a color.
- Radius: How far the beam of light will reach. 10m - 120m
- Intensity: The brightness of the light as it leaves the lens. 0.5 - 5.0.
- Offset of the light source relative to the model. 0.0-5.0 m
- Blink Interval: The amount of time in seconds it takes for one on/off cycle.
- Blink Length: The percentage of the interval for which the light remains on.
- Blink Offset: The percentage of the interval before the light turns on.
